Key Project idea and theme Project in brief.

What is the Need of this Project?

Education is a basic human right for all children but the most of the people in slums area of India are living below the poverty line and are facing many problems like lack of food, shelter, health care, education. All these will have effect on children’s well-being and education. If you are passionate to work for improvement of the condition of these children, we have a solution to help you objectify your mission of making empower these deprived teenagers, unemployed youth and children, we have with us a sample proposal to help you draft just the right proposal for your potential donor. Moreover, skill development for the adults in the families can help them get a good livelihood. Poverty has always been recognized as the major cause of disease, death, and disability. Now the World Health Organization (WHO) came out with the statement the Poverty is the ‘ruthless killer’. Families in Slum areas often face these problems and the earning members of the family unable to cope-up with the situations and survival becomes difficult. The relief often comes in the form of death leaving the children as orphans and destitute. These children starve without shelter, food and clothing and roam along the streets. The Global Goal is by 2025, ensure that all girls and boys have access to quality early childhood development, care and pre-primary education so that they are ready for primary education. The burden lives in the citizens who can afford to support children who are in desperate need and helping the children to pursue their education.

Skill development for people from all age groups can help them get respectful jobs and ultimately end poverty in the households of the weaker section of the society.

PF is one of the pioneers of education, to conduct Non-Formal and Remedial classes for these underprivileged youth, teenagers and children. Enrolling the unemployed youth in these Skill development programmes; so, that they can earn their livelihood by themselves is the paramount objective of PF. PF believes that “Education can Change their Lives, it can defeat the repetitive generational curse of poverty”.

The Skill Development Centres will cater to children between the ages of 13 to 21, who are:

Mostly we will focus on children 13-21 years of age who are from marginalized and poor families. This project proposal is an extension of the existing work being done in the community by PF. The extension of project targets including locations, beneficiaries and activities based on the experience during the implementation of the present project and its success. Keeping in view the above and the existing socio-economic characteristics of the people living in these locations, people are involved in rag picking and working as daily wage earners, construction labourers, Hawkers, Vendors etc. who have migrated from other States and districts of UP. They are living in different slum clusters. Those who have migrated with family approximately have a family size of 5-6 members including 3-4 children. Their migration can be permanent, temporary or seasonal though mostly there is seasonal migration. The proposed project will cover the major locations, JJ Colony Pandav Nagar, A & Z Block Ranjit Nagar and Munshiram Bagh.

MProposed Strategies

Ensure optimum community participation.

Networking and Dialogue with the local bodies/concerned departments and institutions, especially with Education Department

Upgrade the existing curriculum/TLM

Continue education offline and online in case need arises.

Engagement of parents for education of their children as well as their community.

Facilitate community people to access Govt. facilities

Sensitize and build capacity of teachers and other staff on on-line and offline teaching and learning

Regular meeting and feedback with team members through various means of communication

Regular classes of different categories of education, and assessment at regular intervals.

Key Challenges

Despite significant progress towards universal pre-primary and elementary education , retention of students in schools, particularly after primary level remains a critical issue. Along with high migration and frequent mobility of population quality of teaching (particularly at the higher grade) is one of the key reasons for the high drop outs especially amongst girls.

There is still not enough emphasis and mechanisms in place to support mainstreaming of children with special needs in formal schooling.

Reporting System

The Project has monthly/quarterly reporting systems. On the basis of this, a compiled Management Information System (MIS) and financial Statement will be prepared and submitted to the Donors by the Director.

Annual Report will be submitted to the Donors after completion of Project Year and also an Overall Report on the completion of the program.

For 200 non-school going and drop out children and unemployed youth require all the study materials and stationaries to practice reading and writing at the centres.

We Believe in Theory of Change

PF believes that education of the poor is the most effective way to bring about development of the people and by ‘people’ we mean the marginalized. Once people are educated, they work for improving their condition as well as the Society they live in. But once we enter the lives of the poor, we realize that education is the major vehicle of change in their lives. It should be supported by other interventions in the areas of Health and livelihood.
